Coping With Covid-19
Construction continues but Covid-19 impacts projects. Governor Brown provided an exception for construction in her stay at home order. Each contractor and subcontractor on the job site must have a person responsible for social distancing between craftspeople. This has proved challenging, for instance at AGC Heat Transfer in Fairview, Oregon. Sierra Construction is coping with a need to have two people in a lift basket to install windows. Stratus Developers is working as project manager for AGC, a tenant for build-to-suit by Dermody Properties.
Another challenge has been subcontractors based in Washington where Governor Inslee included construction in his stay at home order. At JSR Micro in Hillsboro, Oregon the subcontractor for dozens of interior doors is from the Seattle area. Perlo Construction is coping with a workaround so as to not impact the substantial completion date in August. Stratus Developers is working as project manager for the corporate owner, JSR Micro that is a supplier to semiconductor manufacturers.
